We have decided at least for the short term, that Offline Raid Protection will be enabled across the AstralArk cluster. This is due to the huge amount of offline raiding reports we receive everyday, more then we or even a team of admins could effectively manage. 

It’s not certain yet if we will keep ORP as we will over the next few weeks be considering other options and ways to manage offline raiding. 

As most of you know, ORP does have some draw backs. Top most among them is the lack of tribe alliances. With that in mind before ORP is enabled, we will allow some time for you to remove any dinos from allied bases so they are not accidentally killed after we enable ORP.

I’m currently planning to enable ORP on the 26th *27th at around 10AM GMT. To start with there will be a 15 min timer in place, meaning that once you/all your tribe logout your base will only be able to take damage for 15 mins.

We are happy to hear your thoughts on other options and ways to manage ORP, but please remember we have had to enable this due to the sheer volume of people offline raiding and the complaints around that so going back to how it was is not really an option.

    Doesn’t this also mean that if a base is demo allowed, that we don’t have to rush to the base?
    Last thing i could remember with ORP is that item storages that are demolished still had ORP,
    So no looting, not even when you demolished their whole base, every bag will have the blue ORP text on it.

    The down side to this is the fact people will now abuse it, the second they start to be raided they will log, off, look at Squad and Fabby vs cartel, 7 hours and they did not even get across the bridge to attack the base as it would have been crazy for them to rush it, Same with Hydra vs Fabby it had taken hours.

    Now the second someone starts a raid they will not be able to raid anything within those 15 mins, mostly if it is made of metal and has turrets, this simply means those who wish to raid will now start looking at small tribes who are not gotten to the metal stage or has a very weak base.

    I personally think this is a bad move, I think those who raid offline should be banned no questions asked, and those who got raided should be thankful that person got banned sure they will have to rebuild but its better than scum like that remaining on the server.

      Side note, even if a tribe stays online for the first hour, the second a tribe starts to make progress, they simply log out and thats the raid over, then they have to regroup and wait for that tribe to come back online

    I was offline raided today. What do I do? All my things are gone.

    Ideally looking for some suggestions on alternatives guys. We understand the limitations and problems with having ORP, but it is needed at the moment due to the amount of players ignoring the rules. The other issue is that enforcing ORP without the setting is quite difficult and very time consuming for us which is a problem.

    Alternatives to think about would be things like:

    – PvP Schedule (PVP for some of the day, PVE for the rest)
    – ORP Mod (Were currently using the official setting)
    – Dedicated PVP server within the cluster (others would be pve)

    Plus anything else you can think of!
